Comments by market players on LLDPE Film C4 market as follows:
A trader in Vietnam revealed to SSESSMENTS.COM, “We purchased localized Saudi LLDPE Film C4 cargoes at VND22,000,000/ton ($936/ton) on LC at sight, FD Vietnam basis and including 10% VAT. This level is VND1,000,000/ton ($43/ton) lower than last week’s level. Social distancing regulation has severely affected our business. We have not been selling any cargoes for a few weeks as buyers have no interest to procure some materials.”
A Thai PE producer commented pertaining to the export offers to the Indonesia market, “For the week commencing April 13, we maintain the offers for all grades of PE stable from a week earlier. Indonesia market has been very quiet due to the large-scale social restrictions. At the moment, buyers’ buy idea for LLDPE Film C4 is at $700/ton on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia main port basis, for the highest end of the price range. In terms of delivery, there is no issue nearing to the Eid Al-Fitr as the Indonesian Government decided to postpone the major holiday to the end of the year. We are planning to move the cargoes to China market to save a better margin since Indonesia market has been quiet since the Coronavirus outbreak in the country began.”
“Import Saudi PE cargoes to Indonesia and Malaysia are relatively stable as compared to last week. However, compared to last week’s official price, current LLDPE Film C4 prices are lower by $20/ton, stands at $740/ton on LC at sight, CIF main port basis to both countries. We received bids from customers between $700-720/ton with the same payment and shipment terms. However, we have not decided whether to conclude a deal at this level or not. As PE prices in the China market have gone up significantly, the PE prices in Southeast Asia market should stop from falling further as well. Yet, if PE prices in China start to fall down, we might consider the buyers’ bids,” as stated by a marketing arm of Middle Eastern PE producer.
A converter in the Philippines contacted by SSESSMENTS.COM’s team on April 15 unveils, “JG Summit Petrochemicals has restarted production at their PE plants and cracker since last week. However, the producer is not giving official offers at the moment, they are selling based on customers’ bids. While from our end, we have done the replenishment since two months ago. However, due to the lockdown, we have to shut our factories as we could not deliver products to customers during this situation while demand is sag.”
Whereas in the import market, a trader in the Philippines stated, “Despite local PE market is muted due to the lockdown, but import offers remain available. We have received import PE offers from a Thai producer. As compared to last week’s level, offers for LLDPE Film C4 are $10/ton lower.”
