Comments by market players on LLDPE Film C4 market as follows:
“We have sold out all allocation for LLDPE Film C4 cargoes of the Middle East and US origin. At the moment, we have yet to check with the Middle Eastern producer again whether the company still has remaining cargoes or not. Demand for PE resins on our end is quite strong these days,” an Indonesian trader reported on June 15.
“This week, we only received offers from a Thai PE producer and have yet to receive fresh offers from Middle Eastern producers. Particularly for LLDPE Film C4 cargoes, the Thai producer is offering at $880/ton on LC at sight, CIF Vietnam Main Port basis or $50/ton higher than the offers available in late May,” a Vietnamese converter informed SSESSMENTS.COM.
A Vietnam-based trader stated, “Saudi LLDPE Film C4 cargoes remain stable from last week, available at $840/ton on LC at sight, CIF Vietnam Main Port basis. This week, demand for PE resins is better than last week as customers are more willing to make purchases. Meanwhile, we were notified that the shipment of US PE cargoes will be delayed for around two months.”
“This week, we have yet to receive new offers from a Saudi producer, but the offers are expected to be announced next week. So far, some Indonesian customers have already submitted inquiries, with buy ideas between $790-800/ton for LLDPE Film C4 cargoes. However, we doubted that the producer is willing to sell at such low levels as we believe the producer’s sell idea will be around $840-850/ton-level,” said a global trading house contacted by SSESSMENTS.COM on June 17.
On June 17, a team of SSESSMENTS.COM talked with a Thai PE producer and informed, “Our latest offers for LLDPE Film C4 cargoes to the Indonesia market had increased between $10-20/ton on a weekly comparison, currently at $860/ton. At the moment, we are still in short of supply for LLDPE Film C4. Demand in Indonesia is rather weak as affected by the market condition in China. Most buyers submitted bids at $800-820/ton for LLDPE Film C4, we could not accept the bids since the level is considered too low compared to the initial offer level. All offers are on LC at sight, CIF Main Port basis with the estimated time of arrival by the end of July.”
“This week, the latest offers for LLDPE Film C4 from a Middle Eastern PE producer to the Indonesia and Malaysia market surfaced with an increase of between $50-60/ton as compared to a week earlier, at $850-860/ton on LC at sight, CIF Main Port basis. However, such a level is deemed too high, hence, the sales are rather slow this week. Southeast Asian buyers voiced out that the acceptable level for LLDPE Film C4 offers should be around $800-820/ton-level. Besides, buyers are reluctant in purchasing as they are afraid that the prices will be adjusted down after they make procurements. While on the producer’s side, the company attempted to push prices high on the back of firmer feedstock prices. Even in the upcoming week, the producer believes that the prices will remain firm,” Southeast Asian market players commented to SSESSMENTS.COM.
“To the Philippines market, a Middle Eastern PE producer raised their offers for LLDPE Film C4 by $40/ton compared to offers in early June. Unfortunately, market responses are rather cold since such a high price for LLDPE Film C4 is considered unworkable. Due to this, no deals concluded for that grade this week,” market sources in the Philippines revealed to SSESSMENTS.COM.
“In the upcoming week, we plan to sell LLDPE Film C4 cargoes of Philippines origin to the Indonesia market, with sell idea at around $860-870/ton on LC at sight, CIF Main Port basis, or between $30-40/ton higher than offers available in the Indonesia market this week. We believe that such a level should be acceptable for the Indonesia market. This week, customers have begun to show some interest yet still reluctant toward high prices,” said a regional trader.
