At the beginning of the week, an Indonesian trader revealed about the price adjustment on localized LLDPE Film C4 of Thailand origin, “On a weekly comparison, offers for localized LLDPE Film C4 of Thailand origin have decreased by IDR500,000/ton ($34/ton). Demand has started to show a slight improvement, yet, it cannot be considered strong.”
A Malaysian converter contacted by SSESSMENTS.COM on July 21 unveiled, “Last week we received import LLDPE Film C4 offers of Qatar origin at $880/ton. We submitted bids at $40/ton lower than the initial offer levels, but rejected by the trader and got counter-bid at $865/ton. As of today, we received the offers for the same cargoes at $850/ton. In response to the downward price correction, we submitted bids at $830/ton, but the trader has yet to give any response. All offers are on LC at sight, CIF Malaysia main port basis.”
“Local LLDPE Film C4 prices from one of the PE producers in Thailand have increased by THB1,000/ton ($32/ton) as compared to the offers available on last Wednesday. However, the offers are deemed too high and buyers prefer to wait on the side-line. In terms of demand, demand for LLDPE Film C4 has yet to show any improvement. We opined that as PE prices in the China market has started to decrease, Southeast Asian buyers will halt the procurement activities,” said a distributor in Thailand.
“Import LLDPE Film C4 offers from the leading Saudi polyolefins producer to the Vietnam market have increased by $30/ton as compared to last week. During the same time comparison, offers for LLDPE Film C4 of India origin for August shipment remain stable at $890/ton on LC at sight, CIF Vietnam main port basis. Demand for PE resins has yet to show any significant improvement due to the slow demand for the end products. Our customers said that most manufacturers are running below 100% since the demand for the end products is lower by 50% from the normal volume. As such, buyers will not do any procurement activities this week and prefer to closely monitor the market movement,” said a trader in Vietnam.
On July 22, a regional trader commented, “This week, there are limited transactions in the Southeast Asian LLDPE Film C4 market. Most buyers tend to wait for more import LLDPE Film C4 offers to surface. After talking to our customers, we got the insight that offers at above $900/ton-level for LLDPE Film C4 will not be workable at the moment. Most Southeast Asian buyers voiced out the buy idea between $870-900/ton for non-dutiable cargoes.”
A Vietnamese converter contacted by SSESSMENTS.COM on July 24 unveiled, “On a monthly comparison, import LLDPE Film C4 offers of Kuwait origin have increased by $10/ton. Despite the increment, we managed to secure some volumes between $5-15/ton lower than the initial offer level. In terms of demand, demand for PE resins is considered steady, yet, import offers are way too high.”
