A Malaysian trader commented to SSESSMENTS.COM that the sudden price adjustment on Chinese PVC cargoes to the country would gain a negative response from buyers. Within a day interval, a Chinese acetylene-based PVC producer increased its offers to Malaysia market by $10/ton, now stands at $780/ton on LC at sight, CIF Malaysia Main Port basis. While another Chinese producer is offering the same materials at $790/ton on the same payment and delivery terms. Regarding the increment, the trader opined that acetylene-based PVC cargoes from the first producer would not be able to compete with the offers from other suppliers in the market.
Market talks have it that the offers for US cargoes have been increasing as well. Considering the uptrend in PVC offers from Chinese and US suppliers, the trader opined that cargoes of Southeast Asia origin will maintain its attractiveness if the Thai PVC producer decided to follow the increases of $40/ton for June shipment, SSESSMENTS.COM was told.
