Chinese market players contacted by SSESSMENTS.COM revealed that import PE offers from Thailand are still unattractive despite the significant price reduction. As compared to last week, offers for HDPE Film decreased by $65/ton while LLDPE Film C4 between $40-45/ton. On a monthly comparison, the current offers for May shipment recorded a decrease of between $45-75/ton. Offers for HDPE Film dropped by $50/ton, LDPE Film between $45-65/ton and $75/ton for LLDPE Film C4. For other grades, no price comparison available as the producer did not offer those grades on a regular basis.
However, the significant price reduction failed to lure buyers as the current levels are still deemed unattractive. Chinese buyers opined that the offers are too high. At the time of publication, there are no deals concluded yet, SSESSMENTS.COM was told. The plunge in import PE prices are driven by hefty reductions on the local spot and future prices, buyers lack the confidence to make procurement, sluggish demand for end products as Western countries are unable to receive goods from China due to lockdown as well as global struggle on Corona pandemic.
