A converter based in Medan, Indonesia reported to SSESSMENTS.COM that a Thai PE producer is firm on offers for LLDPE Film C4 to the country despite supply from the producer is no longer limited. According to the trader, the Thai PE producer utilized supply issues stemming from shutdown at LLDPE plant owned by leading Indonesian polyolefins producer to be firm on offers although the availability of LLDPE Film C4 cargoes from the producer in the Indonesia market is now high following the arrival of all pending cargoes. The producer’s offers for LLDPE Film C4 are at $890/ton and deemed unworkable. “We are uninterested in purchasing the cargoes as the offers are higher compared to other origins,” the trader said.
From another Thai producer, the trader received offers for LDPE Film between $910-920/ton. As for LLDPE Film C4 of US origin, the trader concluded deals at $800/ton. The cargoes will be shipped directly from the U.S. All offers on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia main port basis. The converter further told SSESSMENTS.COM that demand for plastic bags in Medan increased by 50% compared to last month as most retailers are running out of stocks. On the contrary, demand from the export market like Japan slows down. Hence, the converter decided to focus on the local market. All the converter’s plants are running at full capacity.
