Toyo Styrene will use Agilyx Corp.’s chemical recycling technology for waste plastics in its depolymerization facility in Chiba, Japan.
Toyo will use the technology to produce styrene monomer oil which it will later purify to a high purified styrene monomer. The process will have a lower carbon footprint from post-use polystyrene (PS) compared to a virgin styrene monomer.
The facility will have a processing capacity of up to 10 tpd of post-use PS and it will start operations in early 2022.
For Agilyx, the contract marks its formal entrance into the Asian market.
