NewsSSESSMENTS: Turkish Producer: Adjustment On PE Prices Deemed Unattractive Due To Competitive Offers From Other Suppliers

Author: SSESSMENTS

A Turkish producer shared with SSESSMENTS.COM that the adjustment on PE prices was deemed unattractive due to the competitive offers from other suppliers. As of last week, PE offers in Europe were still recorded on an upward trend. From the producer’s end, the export offers for PE adjusted higher by EUR60/ton ($68/ton) supported by the firmer Europe ethylene contract as well as the high prices in the domestic market. As explained by the producer, Europe ethylene contract increased by EUR85/ton ($96/ton) while the propylene contract increased by EUR60/ton ($68/ton) from last month. In terms of prices, last week’s offers for LDPE Film from the producer were available at EUR910-920/ton ($1,028-1,040/ton) on LC at sight, FCA Turkey. However, the offers were deemed unworkable as other suppliers, such as Russia are offering at lower prices to Europe.

While for HDPE Film, the offers in the domestic market are relatively high as well. Hence, the producer prefers to focus on selling in the domestic market, SSESSMENTS.COM was told. Moreover, the producer’s allocation for HDPE Film is limited. As such, the offers would be around EUR1,010/ton ($1,141/ton)-level if the producer offers to the export market.
