Spot ethylene prices in the US Gulf Coast hit a fresh record low on Friday, dragged by weak demand amid the COVID-19 pandemic and plunging upstream feedstock costs, market sources told SSESSMENTS.COM. Spot ethylene prices were observed at 8 cents/pound in Mont Belvieu on Friday, the lowest since July 2004. Mont Belvieu prices have tumbled by over 63% from this year’s peak of 22 cents/pound on January 13. Meanwhile, Spot prices in Choctaw fell to 7.5 cents/pound.
