Market sources in China informed SSESSMENTS.COM that the Zhejiang Petrochemical had to delay offering PE and PP cargoes to the market. Due to the unqualified test materials, the producer has to delay offering the materials from its 300,000 tons/year HDPE unit, 450,000 tons/year HDPE/LLDPE swing plant, and 900,000 tons/year PP units. The commercial cargoes are expected to enter the market in February. Initially, on December 31, the producer reported has produced qualified resins and will start offering in January.
On Wednesday, January 8, a source with knowledge of the matter informed that the company’s polymerization unit has yet to operational. Ethylene and propylene monomers are not qualified and could not reach the purity of polymerization grade. Additionally, the company’s six cracker furnaces are running at 70%-80% of the normal capacity, SSESSMENTS.COM was told.
