An average of 1.4 million barrels of oil produced by North Dakota per day. This puts North Dakota in level ahead of 7 of OPEC’s 13 member countries, including Venezuela, Algeria, and Libya. North Dakota’s oil production keeps growing and it is becoming a major producer in the North Sea.
Oil production by North Dakota helped US to become the world’s top oil-producing nation with more than 10.9 million barrels per day. Russia produces 10.7 million barrels per day, places the second position, followed by Saudi Arabia in the third position with 9.8 million barrels per day.
North Dakota’s production continues to climb due to advances in technology. Drilling a well previously needed 33 days, now it can be completed in 11 days. By 2030, North Dakota’s oil industry is predicted to produce 2 million barrels per day.
Investment of $400 million to recover oil from the Cedar Creek Anticline in eastern Montana and the western Dakotas announced by Denbury Resources Inc. In early 2021, the ultimate production predicted 400 million barrels of oil. In this project, carbon dioxide from Wyoming will be carried over 110-mile pipeline.
