A source with knowledge of the matter revealed to SSESSMENTS.COM that LyondellBasell Australia Pty Ltd has cut production rate at its PP plant by 50% due to limited propylene (C3) supply. The company’s propylene supplier, Viva Energy, reportedly has cut production rate at its refinery on the back of slow demand on aviation fuel. Starting from April 2020, LyondellBasell Australia has also announced force majeure on PP supply for around six months. However, the producer told that the company will ask some volume from other LyondellBasell plants; Saudi’s Al Waha Petrochemical, Thailand’s HMC, and South Korea’s Poly Mirae, to cater to demand from customers.
