Market sources informed SSESSMENTS.COM regarding production issue at Qatari PE producers’ plants. As informed, Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) has a production issue at its 840,000 tons/year ethylene cracker, which is also affected operation at its three LDPE plants with a total capacity of 780,000 tons/year. More added, this issue also affects production activities at Q-Chem II’s 350,000 tons/year HDPE plant and Qatofin’s 570,000 tons/year LLDPE plant located in the same complex in Mesaieed Industrial City, Qatar. Hence, the producers had to reduce allocation for June shipment, since they do not have enough quantity at the moment.
As SSESSMENTS.COM noted, Qatar Petrochemical Company Limited QSC (QAPCO) was incorporated in 1974 as a joint venture and is currently owned by Industries Qatar (80%) and TOTAL Petrochemicals (France) (20%). QAPCO has three joint ventures, Qatofin Company Limited QSC (Qatofin), Qatar Vinyl Company Limited QSC (QVC) and Qatar Plastic Products Company WLL.
