Market talks have it that Malaysia’s Pengerang Refining And Petrochemical (PrefChem) will restart operation at its PE and PP plants. HDPE/LLDPE swing plant and PP plant with capacity of 350,000 tons/year and 450,000 tons/year, respectively, are expected to resume production in August. Meanwhile, the restart-up schedule of a 400,000 tons/year HDPE plant and a 400,000 tons/year PP plant remains undetermined. As stated to SSESSMENTS.COM, due to an explosion at its petrochemical complex on March 15, the company is required to have approval from local authorities in order to resume operation.
