- Market players share different outlook for local PVC prices
Indonesian market participants voiced out different outlook for PVC prices in the country. On the week commencing May 18, local ethylene-based PVC offers remain unchanged from last week. While in the import market, the leading Taiwanese PVC producer has announced June shipment offers with an increment of $40/ton to Southeast Asia market, including Indonesia. However, a local producer stated to SSESSMENTS.COM that the increment will be unworkable considering the current market situation in Indonesia.
PVC demand in Indonesia remains sluggish over the week. Most buyers currently on holiday mood as Eid-Al Fitr is around the corner. Moreover, some manufacturers have shut production while some plan to shut production starting from May 21 on the back of slow finished product demand. On the supply side, no significant issue reported to SSESSMENTS.COM.
Looking ahead, Indonesian market players express different outlook for PVC prices. Some opined to SSESSMENTS.COM that local PVC prices will follow the international trend. While the rest stated that even though the leading Taiwanese PVC producer increased its June shipment offers, local PVC prices in Indonesia will remain stable considering the weak domestic demand.
