Ahead of the Hurricane Laura, three US liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants in Texas and Louisiana have closed this week.
On Tuesday, Cheniere Energy Inc. closed its Sabine Pass LNG export plant in Louisiana.
On Wednesday morning, Cameron LNG started to shut its Louisiana LNG export plant while leaving a ride-out team of essential operations personnel remains safely sequestered on site for any emergency.
Golden Pass LNG, who is constructing an LNG export plant at its existing LNG import facility, would close the site on Tuesday, Wednesday, and possibly Thursday, depending on the impact of the hurricane.
On Wednesday, US LNG exports are on track to get to the lowest level since February 2019 to 2.8 bcfd. The amount of gas flowing to Cheniere’s Sabine Pass fell to zero for the first time since it started operating in 2016.
