The Americans Chemistry Council (ACC) said that in April, the US specialty chemical market volume slumped due to the coronavirus pandemic and the mandated government lockdowns.
The US specialty chemical market volumes decelerated by 11.3%, far from the 4.0% decline in March. Diffusion on a sequential basis was unmoved from March, at 0%, down from 48% in February, and 63% in January.
Year-on-year, the overall specialty chemical volumes slumped by 14.5% year-on-year. Volumes were at 95.6% of the average 2012 levels, or 6.51 billion pounds or 2.95 million mt.
Electronic chemicals made it to be the only one market and functional specialty chemical segment posting a gain on a yearly basis. Diffusion was 4%.
