ADNOC and its partner Fertiglobe has sold its third blue ammonia shipment to Japan’s INPEX for use in electricity generation. Previously, ADNOC sold blue ammonia to Japan’s Itochu and Idemitsu. These sales are part of Japan-UAE cooperation in developing the blue ammonia supply chain. Fertiglobe produces blue ammonia at its Fertil plant in Abu Dhabi. It plans to expand the plant’s capacity and cooperate with ADNOC and ADQ to set up a new 1 million tons/year blue ammonia plant in Ta’ziz in Ruwais. Ammonia is a carrier fuel for hydrogen which can be used as a low-carbon fuel across a range of industrial applications, including transportation and power generation.
