Advanced Global Investment Co (AGIC), a joint venture of Advanced Petrochemical Co (APC) and SK Group, has selected Clariant’s Catofin catalysts for its planned propane dehydrogenation (PDH) facility in the Middle East. APC also operates a propylene plant in Saudi Arabia which uses Clariant’s Catofin catalysts. The new PDH plant is designed to produce up to 840,000 tons/year of propylene. It will use Clariant’s Catofin catalysts and McDermott’s Lummus Technology process.
Clariant claims that its Catofin catalysts are highly reliable and productive for light paraffin dehydrogenation, which can maximize conversion of propane to propylene. Catofin technology has been selected for 21 new PDH plants across the world, with a combined propylene capacity of over 15 million tons/year.
