ALPLA Group has produced carbon-neutral rPET ( recycled polyethylene terephthalate) after switching its PET Recycling Team plants in Wöllersdorf, Austria, and Radomsko, Poland, to a mix of electricity from renewable sources.
Georg Lässer, Head of Recycling at ALPLA, elaborated that the procedure cuts emissions by up to 90% compared to virgin material, providing a big impact on the company’s carbon footprint of our food-grade regranulate.
The market has also been showing very good feedback on this method. ALPLA offers its customers carbon-neutral rPET based on the purchase of certificates. The remaining, such as unavoidable emissions relating, to delivery of the input material to the plants, are then offset with carbon certificates.
