According to American Chemistry Council press release on April 4, 2023, U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 7.5 billion pounds during February 2023, a decrease of 7.3 percent compared to the prior month, and an increase of 2.0 percent compared to the same month in 2022, according to statistics released today by the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Year-to-date production was 15.6 billion pounds, a 1.0 percent increase as compared to the same period in 2022.
Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 7.4 billion pounds during February 2023, a decrease of 4.2 percent compared to the prior month, and an increase of 0.3 percent from the same month one year earlier. Year-to-date sales and captive use were 15.2 billion pounds, a 2.0 percent increase as compared to the same period in 2022.
