Australian refiner Ampol, formerly known as Caltex Australia, will restart its Lytton refinery in Brisbane in September and ramp up production to full rates in October. The 109,000 bpd Lytton refinery has been on extended maintenance since May after Ampol brought forward the maintenance schedule from July due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The extended shutdown allowed Ampol to minimize the operational and financial effects of the health crisis on the refinery operations while conducting turnaround and inspection activities, the company said. The maintenance is expected to be completed by the end of this month, followed by phased restart and production ramp up.
