Midstream player Antero said that US propane-plus NGL production would fall by 416,000 bpd through 2022 due to slowing drilling activity. The rig counts in the United States have been dropping because of the bearish outlook caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, NGL output is expected to decrease as well.
Antero said in April that the impact of the coronavirus pandemic would be felt through 2021 and 2022. This contrasts Antero’s statement in December 2019, forecasting a 500,000 bpd increase in US propane-plus NGL production from shale fields. Antero’s latest estimates project that NGL production will likely decline in the Bakken shale, the Eagle Ford basin, the SCOOP/STACK, the Rockies, and Appalachia.
