Axens has won a catalysts supply contract for pyrolysis gasoline (Pygas) selective hydrogenation units operated by Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical (ZPC). Under the deal, Axens will provide catalysts for pygas units which are part of a 1.4 million tons/year ethylene plant at phase 1 of ZPC’s refining and petrochemical complex in the city of Zhoushan.
Axens will also supply selective hydrogenation catalysts for Phase 2 of ZPC’s Zhoushan complex. Phase 2 includes the construction of a new two-train cracker that will add the complex’s ethylene capacity to 4.2 million tons/year. The catalysts will be used by the complex’s phase 2 units, including pygas first and second stage units, as well as a phenylacetylene hydrogenation unit, and an MAPD (methylacetylene and propadiene) unit.
