Bangladesh’s state-owned Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Limited (RPGCL) will import its first spot LNG cargo for September delivery. RPGCL Managing-Director Md Kamruzzaman said the company had already shortlisted 14 international companies for spot supplies of about 138,000 cubic meters of lean LNG for delivery around September 15-20.
The global companies include Summit Oil & Shipping of Bangladesh; Japan’s Mitsui, Marubeni Corp, Osaka Gas, and Jera; Vitol Asia, Trafigura, Cheniere Marketing International, Diamond Gas International, Excelerate Energy, Woodside Petroleum, AOT Trading, Eni, and Petronas.
Bangladesh has been importing LNG since September 2018 in completely fixed-term contracts with Qatargas and Oman Trading International. It will initiate spot imports to diversify its LNG sources. The country has two FSRUs, owned by local Summit Group and US-based Excelerate Energy. Each of them has a daily regasification capacity of around 500 MMcf.
