German BASF SE said that it has finished the installation of five modular polymer-injection units in Argentina to extend the life of a major oilfield in the country.
Previously, BASF’s high-molecular -eight polymer and polymer-injection technologies for oil recovery (EOR) was selected for the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of the project.
The modular polymer-injection units minimize the mechanical degradation of the polymer used in the EOR process and are part of chemical flooding projects to help increase oil recovery rates.
BASF said that the project had a very tight schedule but the company was able to tackle the challenge with fully complying with the budget.
Argentina is currently pursuing intensified oil recovery projects in various areas of the country.
