Borouge, a petrochemical joint venture of the UAE’s ADNOC and Austria’s Borealis, launched new sustainable polyolefins grades during the ArabPlast 2021. These new polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) grades are aimed to provide customers in the packaging and infrastructure segments with solutions that offer better end-use products and enhanced cost-effectiveness. These new grades are:
1. BorPure HJ333MO, a next-gen high flow 75 Melting Flow Rate (MFR) polypropylene (PP) homopolymer, which offers excellent organoleptic properties and efficient processing due to high flowability and cycle time benefits. It is suitable for many packaging applications such as takeaway food packaging, twin wall packaging, lids, media packaging, and trays.
2. HD168MO, a new 10 MFR polypropylene (PP) homopolymer which promotes a great stiffness-impact balance and provides downgauging potential. It offers a shorter cycle time and increased output thanks to its increased crystallisation temperature. It is designed for applications such as rigid containers, household articles, garden furniture, caps, and closures.
3. PP RH668MO, a next-gen 40 MFR polypropylene (PP) random copolymer suitable for premium household applications. It is designed for high-speed injection moulding lines, superior transparency, enhanced colour, excellent impact properties, higher productivity, and offers low-temperature processing. It supports easy to reuse and fully recycle thanks to its enhanced impact performance and balanced stiffness for durability.
4. RJ768MO, a 70 MFR polypropylene (PP) random copolymer suitable for high-flow-thin-wall packaging applications, which offers enhanced transparency and aesthetics. It is designed with optimised additivation enabling the reduced use of Glycerol Monostearate (GMS). The grade can deliver better hygienic containers for food packaging with enhanced transparency.
5. Borstar FB1200, a bimodal polyethylene (PE) designed for agriculture films that require superior melt strength, mechanical properties, and unique matte surface to enable diffused sunlight to improve the quality and quantity of the crop yield.
6. Ante FK2715, a medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) grade developed for flexible packaging applications. It offers a unique balance of stiffness-toughness, easy processing, and good optics. It is suitable for flexible film applications such as high-end premium collation shrink films, stand-up pouches, liquid packaging films, MDO films, and latitudes.
7. Borstar HE3477-RT, a bi-modal material designed for heating and industrial pipes in the infrastructure sector, that can achieve more than a 50-year lifetime at elevated temperatures and is an excellent material to address the growing demand of replacing conventional metallic materials in district heating and industrial applications.
