BP has agreed to provide its latest PTA process technology to Weilian Chemical, a subsidiary of Dongying United Petrochemical Co., Ltd., a leading petroleum and petrochemical products manufacturer and distributor in China. Weilian Chemical plans to construct a PTA production facility in eastern Shandong province.
The complex will be located at the Dongying Port Economic Development Zone and have a PTA production facility of 2.5 million tons/year. It is currently under the design phase that is scheduled to be wrapped up in this year’s first half. The plant is expected to start production by the second quarter of 2022.
BP claims that the bpPTAg5, its latest PTA process technology, requires lower operational costs and capital costs, compared to conventional technologies. The company also utilizes the technology at its largest PTA production facility located at Zhuhai in southern China.
