Caterpillar Reports Third-Quarter 2022 Results

According to the company’s website press release on October 27, 2022, Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) announced third-quarter 2022 sales and revenues of $15.0 billion, a 21% increase compared with $12.4 billion in the third quarter of 2021. The increase was primarily due to favorable price realization and higher sales volume.
Operating profit margin was 16.2% for the third quarter of 2022, compared with 13.4% for the third quarter of 2021. Third-quarter 2022 profit per share was $3.87, compared with third-quarter 2021 profit per share of $2.60. Adjusted profit per share in the third quarter of 2022 was $3.95, compared with third-quarter 2021 adjusted profit per share of $2.66. For the nine months ended September 30, 2022, enterprise operating cash flow was $5.0 billion, and the company ended the third quarter with $6.3 billion of enterprise cash. In the quarter, the company repurchased $1.4 billion of Caterpillar common stock and paid dividends of $0.6 billion.
