AlwaysFree: Chevron-CalBio Joint Venture Produces Dairy-Based Renewable Natural Gas

Author: SSESSMENTS

CalBioGas LLC, a joint venture of Chevron USA Inc., California Bioenergy LLC (CalBio), and local dairy farmers, has announced the first successful production of renewable natural gas (RNG) from dairy farms in Kern County. This partnership is aimed at providing California consumers with clean, reliable, affordable, alternative fuel. CalBio provides technology and operational expertise to capture methane from dairy manure storage and build digesters to convert the captured methane into RNG. The three parties also provide funding for biomethane capture and digester projects in Kern, Tulare and Kings counties. These projects will help the farms to cut their greenhouse emissions. The RNG output will be injected into SoCalGas’ pipeline and will be marketed as an alternative fuel for trucks and buses.
