AlwaysFree: CHIMEI Obtains ISCC PLUS And To Launch Bio-ABS In The First Half Of 2023

Author: SSESSMENTS

According to the company’s website press release on November 3, 2022, CHIMEI announced that its factory in Tainan obtained International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS in October. CHIMEI's main products, including ABS, SAN, MS (SMMA), HBR, and SSBR, all obtained the certification, fully showing CHIMEI's commitment and actions to develop sustainable materials.

ISCC PLUS adopts a mass balance approach to ensure that renewable materials are correctly calculated and used in the production process, and provides traceability throughout the entire supply chain from raw materials to the final product, providing a standard applicable to product sustainability anywhere in the world.

CHIMEI's sustainable materials solution Ecologue™ will launch bio-ABS products in the first half of 2023, and provide new options for high performance materials to meet the needs of different industries on material sustainability.

CHIMEI recently announced its Ecologue™ sustainable portfolio in K 2022, the world's largest plastic and rubber exhibition held in Germany, and strives to increase the sustainability of high performance materials through innovative solutions for recycling, bioplastic, and production. Under its strategy for bioplastics, CHIMEI has built a renewable plastics value chain together with Neste, Idemitsu Kosan, and Mitsubishi Corporation. The four companies are currently introducing new renewable biomass materials to replace fossil feedstock in producing plastic. By obtaining ISCC PLUS, CHIMEI can ensure that the overall value chain will use biomass materials to complete the production of Ecologue™ bio-ABS based on the principle of mass balance. CHIMEI is actively working with its supply chain to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
