According to data from the national statistics bureau (NBS), China’s crude throughputs stood at 59.82 million tons (14.14 million bpd) in October, up slightly by 130,000 bpd from September. This represents a year-on-year growth of 2.6%, accelerating from 1.3 year-on-year increase in September. China’s crude throughputs have stayed above 14 million bpd since June. For the first ten months of the year, China’s crude throughputs rose 2.7% year-on-year to an average of 13.39 million bpd.
Market participants said Sinopec kept overall throughputs at its refineries unchanged or slightly higher than September. Meanwhile, PetroChina raised run rates at its refineries, including 300,000 bpd Daqing refinery, 230,000 bpd Fushun facility, and 130,000 bpd Jinxi plant. Private refiners Changxing and ZPC operated above nameplate capacity in October, with run rates at both plants increasing by about 3% from September.
