China has promised to continue reducing its outdated production capacity of steel and coal in 2020, as the country accelerating structural reform in the supply of steel, urging the compliance in overcapacity, and supporting a greener and innovative development of the industry, stated the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
As for the coal industry, mines that still low in compliance with the country’s safety and environmental standards should be refurbished, whereas the inefficient production capacity will also be slashed. Total number of coal mines throughout the country should be decreased below 5,000, and large-scale coal mines production should be at least 96% of China’s total output.
China aspires to a greener and more efficient energy structures, and incorporating information technologies to ensuring further safety and efficiency in coal mines, the commission stated.
