AlwaysFree: Colombia to Launch Plan Developing Hydrogen as Fuel

Author: SSESSMENTS

On Tuesday, Colombia’s Minister of Mines and Energy Diego Mesa announced the upcoming plans to develop the production and use of hydrogen as a long-term clean energy source in September.

Colombia will establish a road map to ensure the production, use, and export of hydrogen as a clean energy source for use in transport and industry, among other sectors for the next 30 years. The government would enable incentives, which include tax deductions, to encourage the participation of the private sector.

The country prepares for investments in the hydrogen sector in 2021 with pilot projects for producing and using hydrogen due to begin next year.

Meanwhile, the country also expects the success of this year’s oil and gas auction will be successful. Around 32 blocks will be offered in this year’s oil and gas auction. Mesa predicted 10-15 blocks are to be assigned.
