On Wednesday, the US largest refined products pipeline Colonial Pipeline said that it would continue with normal operations despite the upcoming Hurricane Laura on the US Gulf Coast.
The company would still comply with mandatory evacuation orders in Texas and Louisiana by evacuating impacted facilities on Wednesday and manage the safe operation and potential shutdown of facilities and pipeline segments as the storm passes and monitor impacts to its system.
Colonial also said it would assess and communicate our capabilities as soon as possible after the storm has passed.
Colonial’s 5,500 miles (8,850 km) of pipeline system delivers gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and other refined products. It connects Gulf Coast refineries with markets across the southern and eastern of the US.
