AlwaysFree: Coral Sul FLNG Ships Its first LNG Cargo

Author: SSESSMENTS

  • The first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cargo from Coral South FLNG Project was successfully offloaded last Sunday, November 13, from the Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) Coral Sul unit, offshore Pemba in Mozambique.

According to the company’s website news release on November 28, 2022, Christophe Baudel, Executive Project Director of TJS Consortium stated: "We reached the significant milestone by offloading the first Cargo of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) six weeks after producing the first LNG drop successfully. This is a significant accomplishment made possible by our solid cooperation within the Consortium and the confidence and trust placed in us by ENI and its partners from the project's inception until completion. Congratulations to all the teams!”

A project realized by our talented teams all over the world and notably the local Mozambican team, for whom a good number were able to benefit from training in other Operational centres of the Consortium and integrated during the different phases of the project since conception.

The Coral South FLNG project was awarded in 2017 to the TJS Consortium, led by Technip Energies and its partners JGC Corporation and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) to engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning start-up and provisional acceptance of the FLNG facility.

This is also a monumental event for Mozambique as the country is now able to monetize Africa’s largest offshore gas fields!  With this accomplishment, Mozambique enters in the list of LNG producers.

Coral Sul is the first FLNG platform in Africa region and the first one designed to ultra-deep waters. With its 432 metres long, Coral South is the third FLNG T.EN have engineered and built after Shell Prelude and Petronas Satu, confirming our leadership in this market. It will operate at a depth of 2,000 meters.
