On Thursday, a blast hit the Al Arish-Al Qantara natural gas pipeline in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula with flames and thick plumes of smoke rose from the pipeline.
According to the local authorities, the fire was extinguished. It had not affected gas supplies, but the scale of the damage was not immediately clear.
Islamic State claimed responsibility for the blast but did not provide evidence.
