Chinese private gas distributor ENN started trial runs at a gas pipeline connecting its 3 million tons/year Zhoushan LNG terminal to east China’s Zhejiang provincial network. ENN started gas transmission to Zhejiang’s Ningbo city on August 6. It is unclear when the trial runs will end and when the commercial service will begin. The pipeline comprises a 59.3-km subsea portion and a 21.7km onshore section with an annual supply capacity of 8 Bcm.
Gas demand in Zhejiang increased by 9.6% to 14.8 Bcm in 2019 from 13.5 Bcm in 2018, according to data from provincial authorities. Pipeline gas consumption contributed to 11.8 Bcm of Zhejiang’s overall gas consumption in 2019, with non-pipeline gas consumption totalling 3 Bcm. The government-owned Zhejiang Energy is planning to open two new LNG terminals in the province.
