On Monday, Norwegian energy major Equinor announced its 6th domestic oil discovery in 2021.
The discovery is located off the coast of Norway, just north of the Tyrihans field and west of the Kristin development in the Norwegian Sea. It is estimated to hold between 3-10 million m3 of recoverable oil, corresponding to up to 62 million barrels of light crude.
The discovery will be evaluated for further appraisal and assessed for tie back to existing fields in the area.
Equinor is the operator and holds 55% of the well’s license. 30% of the license is being held by Poland’s PGNiG while Longboat Energy has 15% of the stake.
