On Wednesday, the CEO of Norway’s gas supplier Equinor, Anders Opedal, expected that this winter the European gas prices would be high.
Opedal was not sure about the level of price increases, but he elaborated that the high prices would be supported by the very low gas inventories in Britain and the EU and would make it challenging for citizens in the UK, Europe, and some of the industry.
He added that if Europe and Asia experience a mild winter, the market might be able to balance the demand and supply by the end of winter and in the spring.
Still, he warned, that gas supply to Europe could be strained by the inflowing liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Asia and Europe does not get additional gas supplies from Russia.
