According to TASS, Russia's state-owned news agency article published on October 24, 2022, the share of the European Union in Russia’s total trade turnover may fall to 30% in the event of new sanctions imposed by the EU, First Deputy Head of the Federal Customs Service Ruslan Davydov told a press conference on Monday.
"The share of the European Union keeps falling. The EU’s share in trade turnover with Russia has decreased to 35% from 54% some time ago. With those rates, thewill probably continue falling to around 30% if [the EU imposes new sanctions - TASS) packages," he said.
Previously, the European Union was Russia’s main trade partner. In 2021 its share in Russia’s trade turnover amounted to 36% ($282 bln, 38.3% of Russian exports and 32% of imports).
