A mysterious blast took place on Wednesday in Yashashvi Rasayan Private Ltd chemical factory at Dahej in Bharuch. Around 50 workers suffered severe burn injuries and at least 5 died.
The explosion was heard up to a three-kilometre radius, with thick smoke billowed out of the plant. Around 4,800 people staying in two neighbouring villages have been evacuated by the district administration officials as a precautionary measure.
A reaction led to an explosion caused by unknown reason during a chemical process between two containers. Twenty types of chemical components manufactured by the chemical factory. Some of the workers, immediately after the blast, managed to come out from the factory.
Along with the Disaster Management team of Bharuch district collector, fire officials immediately reached the spot. The injured workers were rushed to two private hospitals and Bharuch civil hospital.
