According to TASS, Russia's state-owned news agency article published on October 19, 2022, the transit of Belarusian cargo through Russian ports has in 9 months increased 2.2-fold year-on-year, Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak said on Wednesday.
"In 9 months, exports of Belarusian export cargo by rail to the ports of the Russian Federation increased 2.2-fold compared to the same period last year.," Sivak was quoted by Belarus Segodnya.
Sivak added that currently, "14 Russian ports are involved in processing Belarusian export cargo." "We have prepared mechanisms for exports of Belarusian cargo with the involvement of the ports of the North-West region of Russia, the ports of the Black and Azov Seas, along land routes towards China," he added.
Back in September, Belarus and Russia signed an intergovernmental agreement on the transit of Belarusian goods through Russia’s territory. In February last year, the governments of the two countries signed an agreement on transshipment of Belarusian oil products through Russian ports for further export to third countries. According to the estimates of the Russian Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev, the volume of transit of Belarusian oil products for export to third countries through Russian ports in 2022 will reach around 3 mln tons. Transshipment of Belarusian oil products through Russian ports in 2021 reached 2.13 mln tons.
