AlwaysFree: ExxonMobil Increases Renewable Fuel Deal With Global Clean Energy

ExxonMobil on Thursday said it had increased a deal to purchase more renewable diesel from Global Clean Energy as the oil major faced growing pressure to lower carbon emissions and do more for climate change. Under the expanded deal, Exxon will purchase up to 5 million barrels/year of renewable diesel Global Clean Energy for five years, up from 2.5 million barrels/year in the initial deal signed in August last year. Exxon said it would market the renewable fuel in California and potentially other domestic and overseas markets. Global Clean Energy is building a biorefinery in Bakersfield, California, which is expected to start production by early 2022. It is designed to process up to 15,000 bpd of renewable feedstock.
