State-owned Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) on Tuesday said three people were dead and 44 were injured from a fire at its 160,000 bpd refinery in Haldia, West Bengal. The company said the fire occurred during maintenance-related work at the site’s gasoline-producing unit around 2:50 PM local time (0920 GMT). The refinery has been shut since early December for a 50-day turnaround. A company spokesman said the fire had been put off, and the situation was under control. He also added that authorities had launched an investigation into the incident.
