AlwaysFree: Gazprom Appeals Against Poland’s Fine Over Nord Stream 2 Project

Author: SSESSMENTS

Russian gas company Gazprom has appealed against a €6.5-billion ($7.6 billion) fine imposed by Poland’s anti-monopoly watchdog (UOKiK) over the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline project. UOKiK also fined the project’s other backers, including Engie, OMV, Shell, Uniper, and Wintershall for implementing the project without UOKiK consent in October. Gazprom appealed against UOKiK at the Polish court. Meanwhile, Uniper and OMV have said that they would also appeal. Engie and Shell have said that they strongly disagree with UOKiK and are considering the next steps. Wintershall said it reserved the right to appeal, but has yet to do so.
