AlwaysFree: Gazprom Shows No Signs Of Boosting Gas Exports To Europe

Author: SSESSMENTS

Gazprom has shown no signs of boosting gas exports to Europe amid shortages which have pushed power prices to record highs. The Russian gas exporters booked some 32 Mcmd of additional gas transit capacity via the Yamal-Europe pipeline via Poland for November. That represents just 35% of the capacity offered by the Polish operator Gas System. Gazprom also booked no spare capacity via Ukraine this year despite having the right to book extra transit capacity on top of already agreed volumes.

Analysts and some European politicians have said that Gazprom’s move in keeping gas exports steady was aimed to push for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, which is awaiting regulatory approval from Germany and the European Union to start gas exports.

Gazprom exported 6.5 Bcm of gas outside the former Soviet Union in the first half of October, a decline from 7.3 Bcm in H1 September. Gazprom said its gas exports reached 152.2 Bcm since the start of the year, increasing 13.1% from a year earlier. The company said its year-to-date gas supplies rose to Turkey (125.3%), Germany (28.2%), Italy (16.3%), Romania (288.6%), Serbia (112.1%), Bulgaria (52.7%), Poland (10%), Greece (12.9%), and Finland (15.3%).
