On Thursday, Genesis Energy LP said that its US Gulf of Mexico crude oil pipeline, the Cameron Highway Oil Pipeline System (CHOPS) would likely not be able to finish restoration before October 1 following Hurricane Laura and a lesser storm passed by the area.
Weeks after the hurricane, the company is still working to make CHOPS work again. CHOPS normally delivered crude to the Texas coast and sold as Southern Green Canyon and now Genesis is rerouting and delivering those shipments into the Poseidon pipeline system or the Auger pipeline.
Genesis said that the pipeline itself was not damaged but a platform in the system was affected by the storms.
