In the first half of 2021, German crude oil imports fell by 10% year-on-year in volume, but in value, they soared by 22.7%.
Oil import volumes dipped to 37.7 million tonnes, compared to 41.9 million tonnes in the January-June period of 2020.
The value of imports in the first six months of this year hit EUR14.6 billion (USD17.2 billion), reflecting the oil price gains.
The country’s average oil prices paid for each tonne at the national border had been up by 36.9% from a year earlier at EUR387.94/tonne (USD457.76/tonne), according to the BAFA foreign trade office.
