- The S.Korean chemical company aims to expand its product range to increase its rPE supply to 10,000 tons per year by 2027
According to The Korea Economic Daily article published on February 28, 2023, South Korean chemical and renewable energy firm Hanwha Solutions Corp. announced on Tuesday that it has received a global certification for its recycled polyethylene (rPE) materials made from waste plastic.
Hanwha Solutions secured the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) from Control Union, a Netherlands-based certification agency that assesses environmental, chemical and social criteria, such as renewable raw material content and labor and human rights, across the entire supply chain of rPE materials, from production to processing and distribution.
The company aims to expand its product range to increase its rPE supply to 10,000 tonnes per year by 2027.
"Through GRS certification, we have proven the eco-friendliness of our rPE-based products that reduce the use of new plastics," said Won Jae-sik, head of Hanwha Solutions' PO Business Division. "We will apply eco-friendly materials to various products to strengthen our ESG management and promote resource circulation."
